Newsies Fandom Meets LJ

So madwomanpoems and I came up with this little crazy meta theory that we wanted to share.

While it isn't strictly Newsies - it focuses on three fandoms, the other two being Big Time Rush and Drake & Josh - the Newsies discussion is the basis of the essay, and even if you haven't seen BTR or D&J, it's all thoroughly explained and easy to understand out of context. On the Newsies side, it's a pretty in-depth analysis of Jack/David, Spot/Race, and Blink/Mush and how they form the basis for some of the main pairing types in other fandoms.

Title: The Newsie and the Reporter
Author: SmithsonianGirl
Rating: PG-13
Pairings: David/OC
Genre: Romance

Summary:
Riley is your average high-school graduate. That is, she's your average until she somehow ends up in 1899 Manhattan courtesy of "Cupid's Sis." Once in New York, Riley finds herself becoming one of the Newsies- and becoming attracted to David Jacobs.

29th-Dec-2009 05:44 am - Javid fic; It Went Like This
love: rainbow heart
Title: It went like this
Disclaimer: I do not own these characters, they belong to Disney and associates. I am writing this for fun and not for profit. All characters portrayed in this fic are over 18.
Rating: R
Fandom: Newsies
Pairing: Jack/David
Wordcount: 6381
Warnings: Grinding, perhaps dubious consent (I think it's pretty consensual, but it's not under the best of circumstances)
Summary: David's eyes were molten. His mouth was drawn into a severe line, gashing through the pink of his cheeks like a knife wound, like it didn't belong. Jack's years on the street had trained him to notice David's hands balled into fists at his sides, skin stretched tight and sallow across his knuckles; but something else entirely trained him to notice the way David's wrists curved out smoothly, the skin of his thumb smooth, clean, soft.
Author’s Notes: This was written a while ago, and archived elsewhere, but with the news that Newsies might be going to Broadway I wanted to update my Newsies fics :).

Hi everyone,

(I hope this is allowed; if not, let me know)

I've discovered that there is a regrettable lack of Newsies gifs in existence, so I'm currently doing gifs and animated Newsies icons. I was just going to do some for personal use, but then I figured hey, this is a small enough fandom, so I'm accepting requests. I don't know, is this something you guys would be interested in?

If so, just comment and let me know what scene(s) or interaction(s) from the movie you'd like, and whether you'd like an icon or a gif (or both).

See icon for example, or:

*waves* Hi, everyone! I'm new to Newsies fandom, and brand new to this community, so I'm extraordinarily terrified a little nervous about posting for the first time, especially bringing something like this over that isn't exclusively Newsies, but I made picspam over at my journal and wanted to share it with you guys. It's split between Newsies and Drake and Josh (which is my main fandom), but even if you're not a fan of D&J at all, there's still enough Newsies goodness to keep you entertained. On the Newsies side, it's Javid, Sprace, and Blush-centric. Enjoy!

15th-Aug-2009 04:06 pm - A Newsies Site...I've never hoid of!

OK, so awhile back I asked for help in finding GOOD quality pics of Newsies and such...WELL, I got some great help, but didn't really have time to look too far into it...so after going to a few pages and clicking on links to other sites, I came across one that is AWESOME! I'm sure it's been around for awhile, BUT I've never heard of. So if you have, forgive me!

DEFINITELY MY BRAND OF HEROIN! ^.^

If you're on a roll with the lunacy, I suppose it's natural to keep on continuing. And without further ado, here comes a new chapter of Falling Up. I blame my brilliant co-writer Madwomanpoems for this, chiefly!

Title: Falling Up, Chapter 2
Fandom: Little Women & Newsies Crossover
Series: Falling Up
Co-writer: Madwomanpoems / Captivatedbythesky
Characters/Pairings: Jack/Jo, Jo/Laurie, Laurie/Amy, Cast of Both Series
Rating: R
Summary: When Jo March flees to New York to escape an old friend's betrayal, she never thought she'd end up meeting his exact double. But then, Jack Kelly didn't exactly know what he was getting into when he met her either... Jo/Jack, Jo/Laurie, Laurie/Amy.
Note: This is a Little Women/Newsies crossover, with all the madness that entails. Remember that Christian Bale played both Laurie (in Little Women) and Jack Kelly (in Newsies) and it makes marginally more sense.

Jack was a very nice man indeed, although Jo was currently refusing to allow herself to believe anything more could be at work. Surely this poor man was merely afraid that if he let the the twitchy psychotic who had just assaulted him waltz out of his sight, she'd probably go and threaten to dangle school children from a pier, or whatever. It was probably him attempting to look out for the public that made him call after her with such a surprising offer.
